Dr. Richard Lederer is the author of more than 30 books about language, history, and humor. His syndicated column, "Looking at Language," appears in newspapers and magazines throughout the United States. He has been named International Punster of the Year and Toastmasters International's Golden Gavel winner. Dr. Lederer has been profiled in periodicals as diverse as The New Yorker, People, and the National Enquirer and is frequently heard on radio as a commentator on language.
Titles that include the best-selling Anguished English series, Get Thee to a Punnery, and Word Wizard mask Richard Lederer’s erudition with memorable humor and wit. His recent books include the popular A Treasury for Dog Lovers and A Treasury for Cat Lovers. Dr. Lederer’s talk to the First California Company, Jamestowne Society will be based on his newly updated book Presidential Trivia: The Feats, Fates, Families, Foibles, and Firsts of Our American Presidents. It contains hundreds of intriguing firsts, mosts, onlys, patterns, and quizzes about our presidents, vice presidents, and first ladies. You will have fun learning about their lives (even their medical records and their pets), their accomplishments, and their roles in American history. From Downtown San Diego:
Take 1-5 North and Exit Palomar Airport Road. Continue East (inland) 1 mile. Turn Left on The Crossings Drive. Clubhouse entrance will be on the right.
From Orange County:
Take 1-5 South through Camp Pendleton. Exit Palomar Airport Road. Continue East (inland) 1 mile. Turn Left on The Crossings Drive. Clubhouse entrance will be on the right.
From I-15 Freeway:
Take 78 Freeway West to the 1-5. Take the 1-5 South to Palomar Airport Road. Continue East (inland) 1 mile. Turn Left on The Crossings Drive. Clubhouse entrance will be on the right.
From Inland Empire:
Take 91 West to I-15 South from Temecula to 78 west. Exit on San Marcos Blvd and continue west. Continue west on San Marcos Blvd as it turns into Palomar Airport Road. You will pass the Carlsbad Airport. Turn right on The Crossings Drive. Clubhouse entrance will be on the right.
By Amtrak from the North:
Take the Pacific Surfliner to the Oceanside station, OSD, at 235 South Tremont Street. From here, it is 6.2 miles to The Crossings at Carlsbad, 5800 The Crossings Drive, Carlsbad. A train departing Union Station,LAX, in downtown Los Angeles at 8:30 am arrives in Oceanside at 10:23 am.
By Amtrak from the South:
Take the Pacific Surfliner to the Solano Beach station, SOL, at 117 West Plaza Street. From here, it is 9.6 miles to The Crossings at Carlsbad, 5800 The Crossings Drive, Carlsbad. A train departing the downtown San Diego station, SAN, at 9:30 am arrives in Solano Beach at 10:04 am. |
