Historic Jamestowne is jointly administered by the National Park Service (NPS), which owns the majority of the 1500 acre island, and The Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA), which owns 22½ acres.

John Smith's Chesapeake Voyages, 1607-1609 John Smith was an intrepid early explorer of Chesapeake Bay and the Virginia Tidewater. His charts and maps of the area were so accurate that they were used for almost 300 years. This site gives you a good idea of what he did.
